Portfolio???

Ok so its been a few days since Ive been here and I would like to start off by saying Thank You to those of you who posted comments on my page. I appreciate them all.
My task for the next week and a bit is to make as many cakes as I can and make a portfolio. I am not sure what I am going to do with all of the cakes that I will be making but none the less it should be fun!
I have ordered some new supplies and cant wait to start using them and experimenting with new techniques and making my own techniques.
I will post pictures here after I make each cake so you can all follow my progress be it positive or negative. I am off to bed now cause its an early morning start with a toddler and some cake pans ;-)

Excited, Proud and Scared...Really Scared!

Ok so here it goes...Day one

I have put in a lot of hard work so far and I am really excited about it. First things first... I have to say that I have had a wonderful friend helping me along the way and I would like to thank her for everything. Beth you are near and dear to my heart and I thank you so very much. I am learning a lot from her because she has a wonderful and successful business you should really check it out.

After you check out mine of course ;-).

So this past week was very exciting for me, I got a lot of feedback from friends and family on my work and creations.  Mostly positive and some constructive criticisms but I appreciate it all. I truly feel that in order to succeed you need constructive criticisms to help you grow.  I registered my business name so needless to say I am pretty proud of that. Its a step that makes me feel really good about taking my life in my own hands and choosing to turn some negative things into positive ones.

This upcoming week I am going to be doing some research for my business as well as working on the little details that I would have never thought of had my husband mentioned it to me so thank you dear.

Ok well that's it for today check back in soon. Ill be updating this regularly with new work, more pictures, some new recipes and creative ideas.

Welcome!

My name is Melissa and there are two things in life that I am very passionate about:  my family and my business. I chose the name Sweet Pea Cakes N Treats because from the moment we found out we were pregnant out family gave the baby the nicknames "Sweet Pea" This is very special to us because getting to this point in our lives has taken a lot of work and dedication.
I started off with a wonderful tasting cake for my daughter's 1st birthday, it was egg-free, chocolate, etc. I then also made a Winnie The Pooh cake...It didnt turn out very well at all....that was my first attempt at cake baking and decorating. My love of the art has pushed me to continue to improve on decorating!

For the Fish, Cupcake cake and the cup cakes, the cakes/cupcakes are homemade as well as the icing again: buttercream!!! I made these cakes etc & decorated them during my cake decorating class that I took to enhance my decorating skills and to pursue my dream of being in charge of my own destiny!!!

As for the Thomas Cake..this was  for her 3rd birthday. I did give a cake pan a try for the mold but I did make the homemade icing and tint the colours according to the desired colours. Again it was a homemade chocolate cake recipe.

For my daughter's 2nd Birthday, I made this Mickey Mouse cake. The cake was made free hand, was chocolate (homemade recipe) and the icing was buttercream and tinted for each appropriate colour.

Delicious treats are available in many sizes.
